Are you or many people you know providing care for a senior citizen? If so, you’re not alone.

The VSP Foundation definition of “home healthcare assistant,” “personal care assistant,” or “elder care” is broad, including companionship or just being available to assist a senior.

But it’s undeniable that more and more time is spent on home health care, personal care and elder care as life expectancies and un-expectancies climb. In fact, an average of 20% of the workforce provides up to 20 hours of eldercare weekly. These caregivers are your support specialist and your care workers specialist.

Types of Home Health Care Assistant, Personal Care Assistant, and Elder Care, Case Manager are Specialist

Home Healthcare Assistant, Personal Care Assistant, Elder care, and Case Manager are paid specialist assistants to a family with physical, developmental or psychological needs.

These needs may be for making medical appointments, housing and financial decisions, dress up, taking medications reminders, watching or listening to activity all together for your loved one. A caregiver may also be entrusted with locating skilled services such as day care, nursing, assisted living, hospice and home health care, among other things.

In addition to planning and decision making, many specialist workers provide regular, even daily, care for your family member, either in their own homes or at other homes or facilities.

Home Health Care Assistant, Personal Care Assistant, and Elder Care Issues in the Workplace and Why Using a Specialist Is A Good Relief.

Just as any other family or personal issue, home health care, personal care, elder care is an additional stressor for family members especially working family members. These stresses appear as:

Reduced productivity on the job; Inability to travel or work overtime; Absenteeism; Worry about loosing out on advancement opportunities; Distraction and phone interruptions; Exhaustion and other health issues;

Stressed employees with subpar productivity ultimately affect the company.

Not only does job performance suffer, but employee caregivers without the assistance of specialist such as home health care assistants, personal care assistants or elder care assistants may be forced to leave the company or reduce their hours, resulting in retention issues.

VSP Foundation provides services for both the children, young adults and seniors.

Rangers are coming to Philly - The Guardian Angels they are not!

The Kick off of the Town Watch Ranger, VSP Foundation Summer Camp and supporters for Community Outreach Partnership, 2007 in West Philadelphia. The Rangers are looking for more volunteers to join them in the fight for more gun control in the state of Pennsylvania.

Rangers are coming to Philly - the Guardian Angels they are not! By Van Stone vspfoundation@yahoo.com (215) 747-8746

In just a little while longer, Philadelphia residents will get a chance to meet its city’s newest Heroes. The Town Watch Rangers. Unlike regular citywide town watch or those other guys that risk their own personal safety to promote public safety, the Guardian Angels, the men and women Rangers are coming to town to work for gun control with a vengeance. And it’s personal. The Town Watch Ranger, a Volunteer Patrol Service, formally of the 52nd Street community Town Watch, will provide public safety, street cleaning and safer schools. Services include connecting Street Arteries and any of the neighboring blocks and businesses that carry residents from the parks through the city.

In other words, just like when the criminals clearly avoids trouble where ever they see, the Cops rolling down the block, the Firefighter racing to stop destructive fires or the Park Ranger protecting national tourism spots, that same no good crook that ‘s willing and able to shoot up the city in broad daylight, not giving a hoot if kids are out, is about to move on quickly when ever and where ever they come face to face with a Town Watch Ranger. Many of the new Ranger’s are men and women that have dealt with some kind of sudden loss due to wrong doing by happy go lucky attitude folks that only seem to understand Stop the violence when faced against another that’s willing to get it stopped by any means necessary. Through the work of the Town Watch Ranger they enable our children to lead healthier and more independent lives, teach parents to manage their children’s issues with success and confidence, and provide our citizens with opportunities that will help them to grow, develop and become value added contributors to the success of a changed Philadelphia. But they are not just about serving the 52nd Street area of West Philadelphia. They are encouraging any neighborhood leadership to communicate with them often. If you have ideas that may improve your community’s services or experiences, like summer camp, park protection, or alike, from which you and I can benefit, do not hesitate to give them a call and share your thoughts. The Town Watch Ranger can be reached at (215) 570-9952, contacting Ranger, Raymond Ward as the Director that is interested in assisting you with your problem. The Ranger’s look forward to partnering with you to continue to make your Community Outreach Program the best community behavioral health organization this city can offer its citizens.

What else is up in West Philly? Friends of Malcolm X Memorial Park is doing its 8th annual West Philadelphia Jazz Heritage Series held at Malcolm X Memorial Park, 52nd and Pine Streets. And, Councilwoman Jannie Blackwell and Friends of Malcolm X Park host it. The Town Watch Ranger will provide public safety for all that attend. Concerts to start at 7 PM. June 14, 2007 performer will be Vocalist Ms. Shirley Lites; June 28, 2007, Tenor Saxophonists Umar Raheem and New York French Connection; July 12, 2007, Vocalist Barbra Walker Story; July 26, 2007, Bassist Bill Booker and Quartet; August 9, 2007, Vocalist Ms Denise King; August 23, 2007, Alfie Politt; September, 6, 2007, After Hours; September, 20, 2007, The Nate Murray Band.

The annual Showcase for Peace by Cultures Clothing Co. and Bro. I.B. The Thurobred is coming. It features a Fashion Show by Cultures Clothing, and a talent expo performances by many up and coming artists and performers, such as Kharisma from the CW Philly crew, Reed Dollaz, I.B., Nino Breeze, OT Boston, Da Heataz and more. This is a free show (for all ages) to raise awareness and to promote Anti-violence and Cultural Acceptance. Free Prizes are also being giving away by Cultures Clothing.
